Here is my comment following the decision to defer the planning application relating to Poynton Pool:
"It was positive to hear that the planning application regarding Poynton Pool was deferred at yesterday’s Cheshire East Council Strategic Planning Board meeting. It is important that the strong concerns of local Poynton residents have been listened to.
"As I set out in my letter to the Chief Executive of the Council last week, it is now time for the alternative solutions that the Friends of Poynton Pool have set out to be given the serious consideration that they deserve. In addition, it’s vital that Cheshire East Council actively engage with the local community, as local residents deserve to see the trees at Poynton Pool being better protected and a more environmentally friendly solution to manage the potential flood risk. With the planning application being deferred, the Council should also take time to review the accuracy of the information and guidance that has been provided to them by Jacobs.
"I look forward to continuing to work with the Friends of Poynton Pool, local Poynton councillors and Poynton Town Council to protect this much-valued community asset."
